The Board of ASF-Sweden has accepted to be a partner organisation in the project of construction of a new school for the Kenyan Waldorf school, The Humane School.

After coming back from my summer trip to Kenya where I carried out a preliminary study about the Humane School's project, I gathered and completed the documents required to apply for partnership with Arkitekter utan gränser. Also called ASF-Sweden, this non-profit organisation is working for a long-term sustainable, gender equal and fair building development worldwide, and is part of ASF-International, a network organisation for socially equitable architecture.
The documents for application include, among others:
-a report of the results of the preliminary study,
-a list of the people and organisations involved in the project, clarifying their roles and relationships,
-a project description defining the main goals of the project and how those goals could be achieved as well as explaining whom this project will benefit and how the local community will be involved and affected,
-a budget and timeline for the construction
-a risk analysis
-etc.
Together with a lovely group of volunteer members of ASF-Sweden, motivated to contribute to the Humane School project with their professional knowledge and personal abilities, we awaited the decision of the Board.
The Board of ASF-Sweden approved our project in October 2018 and asked for complementary documents, such as a deepened stakeholders analysis, which we started working on with right away with different stakeholders and focus groups, both in Kenya and in Sweden.
Now the project group from ASF-Sweden will further support the project by:
-Providing architectural support for the design of the new school,
-Facilitating participatory workshops on site, which would feed the architectural solution and federate the community around the project,
-Providing support in project management , tools and methods,
-Providing professional drawings for the building permit application,
-Following the construction (monitoring and controlling the quality and accuracy)
-Promoting and advertising the project of The Humane School.
